Easons bookshops are organising author readings for schoolchildren on Friday, March 10th (World Book Day) in Cork and Dublin. Writers Margot Bossonet, Mary Murphy and Ashlinn O'Loughlin will read from their work at the School of Music, Union Quay, Cork from 10.30a.m to 1p.m. Larry O'Loughlin and Jeremy Strong will do likewise in the Dublin Writers' Museum, Parnell Square from 11a.m. to noon and 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. (01 8622111 for more details).

RTE radio is running special programmes throughout World Book Week. Those of interest to children include John Quinn's The Open Mind, which takes a new look at a programme made in 1982 called Do They Read At All Nowadays? (RTE Radio 1, Thurs, 7.05 p.m.)
