Some opinion on the Leaving Cert English debacle from the internet world.

Things that won't help:

1. A petition to change the date. How would that help, but to prolong the suffering? People's panic stems from the idea that they now don't know what to study. Postponing the exam doesn't address that issue at all. It's just an illogical answer to make panicky people feel better.

2. Blowing up Louth. Though fun, would be terrorism. Which is bad.

3. Refusing to sit the exam. By all means, be my guest. In a way, it weeds out the panicky illogical folk . . . as epic as it would be, it’s also stupid. The LC just isn’t worth taking a stand on. It’s a pathetic excuse for an exam that I just want to scrape by and forget.

4. Setting yourself on fire in front of the SEC headquarters. The first time that monk did it in Vietnam it was funny. Now it’s just gotten boring and cliched.

The SEC should have got the new paper out last night. It's ironic that every newspaper in Ireland managed to publish something about it and they received the news late last night and I could get the newspaper at 7am in my local shop. The SEC received the info at 4.30pm and they could have sent it out then. Boards.ie

I can only laugh because EVERYTHING I studied came up. I would've done so well! Now I've to start from scratch hahaha. I think I'm having a nervous breakdown. allhonours.ie

My friends reassuring me with the line Everybody's in the same boat– but that's not entirely true. I'm repeating the Leaving Cert, so I've covered the course in one year. I never had time to look at all the poets, nor did I have time to prepare a second mode for Comparative Studies. I don't know Macbethvery well – I've never even read it.
