The controversial Eastern Bypass motorway, linking Whitehall with Stillorgan via Dublin Port and Sandymouat Strand, "is now firmly back on the political agenda", according to Cllr John Gormley, the former Green Party lord mayor.
"It is now one of the worst kept secrets among DTO (Dublin Transportation Office) members, Dublin Corporation and Department of the Environment officials and certain politicians that the port access tunnel through Marino is seen simply as the first leg of the Eastern Bypass."
