John Dundon, (29), of Hyde Avenue, is charged with threatening to kill two women, a mother and daughter, at an address on Hyde Road on April 3rd-4th last.

Gda Christine Bergin gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on both men at Limerick District Court today. Insp Jerry Horan applied on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions for both accused men to be returned for trial to a sitting of a Special Criminal Court.

Insp Horan said he was making the application under Section 46 (2) of the Offences Against the State Act.

Defence Counsel Shane O’Callaghan asked that his clients be granted free legal aid and furnished the court with statements of means.

Mr O’Callaghan told the court that Wayne Dundon earns €170 per week selling horses and that John Dundon is not in receipt of any monies.

Judge Eamon O’Brien referred the question of free legal aid to the Special Criminal Court. Both men were remanded in continuing custody.

The Dundon brothers stood side by side in court yesterday and remained silent for the brief hearing.
