For the second time in as many weeks, Blackburn winger Damien Duff is struggling to be fit to face Celtic in the UEFA Cup third round.

Duff won a race against time to feature in the first leg at Parkhead earlier this month, which Rovers lost 1-0 after a late Henrik Larsson strike, and is not certain of selection on Thursday.

Duff missed Saturday's Barclaycard Premiership match at Southampton because of a calf strain with manager Graeme Souness explaining: "He got a kick on the calf against Aston Villa.

"It was touch and go all week as to whether or not we would play him (at Southampton), and in the end we decided not to risk him. He should play on Thursday, though."

Souness also faces an anxious wait over the fitness of key defender Martin Taylor, who limped out of Saturday's game with a suspected hamstring injury.

Rovers are already without Taylor's fellow centre-back Henning Berg who has an Achilles problem.
