A man involved in a killing in Rialto has pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the Central Criminal Court. The victim was returning from his grandfather's funeral.

A jury had been sworn in on Monday to try Stephen McNeil (22) for the murder of Mr Liam Thompson (20). McNeil of Rialto, Dublin, pleaded guilty yesterday to killing Mr Thompson on January 26th, 1999. Mr Justice Smith remanded him on bail for sentence on January 26th.

Mr Thompson had gone to a phone for a taxi for his family when he got into an argument with McNeil and a co-accused. He was stabbed and died in hospital.
