Over 1.6 million passengers passed through Dublin airport in February, an increase of 7 per cent on the previous month, according to new figures released today.

The Dublin Airport Authority said the figures represent an additional 3,700 passengers per day. The leap day on February 29th contributed an extra 60,000 passengers.

Passenger volume on North American routes showed the greatest increase (33 per cent) with over 90,000 passengers travelling to or from the states in February.

Over 72,000 passengers travelled on domestic routes, an increase of 10 per cent, while traffic on European routes rose 7 per cent to in excess of 750,000 passengers.
