DIRECT Action Against Drugs, viewed as a cover name for the IRA, has admitted the murder of a man in the Markets area of Belfast. Mr Sean Devlin was shot dead yesterday evening.

He was visiting a house in Friendly Street, in the Markets area, when two gunmen entered shortly before 4 p.m. and shot him three times in the head. A 13 year old girl was in the house at the time.

Mr Devlin (31) is DAAD's eighth murder victim. The RUC has insisted the organisation is a front for the IRA. Six of the victims were killed while the IRA ceasefire was in place.

Mr Paddy Lynn, a Workers' Party representative in the Markets, said the IRA had threatened Mr Devlin, telling him to leave Northern Ireland or be shot.

A local priest, Father Anthony Curran, who administered the last rites, was shaken as he left the death scene. The parish priest, Canon Peter McCann, said it was clear the killers "did not come from far away".

He condemned those who committed the crime, saying they set themselves up as "judge, jury and executioners".
