Garda∅ investigating the accident that claimed the lives of a young Louth couple on Monday, yesterday interviewed the driver of one of the lorries involved, writes Elaine Keogh.

The driver, from the North, was arrested on being discharged from hospital and held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He was taken to Drogheda Garda Station and later released without charge. A file will be prepared for submission to the DPP.

The couple died when their car was struck from behind by an articulated truck and forced into the path of an oncoming lorry.

They will be buried together tomorrow in Monasterboice, after Mass at noon. The victims were: Mr Dominic Wogan (23), Collon, Co Louth, and Ms Fiona O'Neill (20), Sillogue, Monasterboice.
