THE Army bomb disposal unit is disposing of a Russian distress flare which was found on the sea front at Malahide, Co Dublin, yesterday.
The steel flask shaped flare, 12 inches tall and two and a half inches in diameter, was found at the Marina Village at around 3 p.m. by a group of teenagers whose parents alerted the gardai.
A Garda spokesman said the flare could be dangerous if wrongly handled. It was removed for examination to Cahal Brugha Barracks last night.
