The Minister for Enterprise and Employment, Mr Bruton, has announced the new members of the reconstituted Dion committee, writes Patsy McGarry.
The new committee will be chaired by Mr Leo Sheedy, first secretary, Enterprise and Employment, at the London embassy.
Other members include Ms Breda Gray, who developed a grants scheme to promote alcohol services within the community care network in Britain, Dr Therese Joyce, a psychologist with experience in consultancy work on Irish Housing needs in Britain, Mr Jim O'Hara, chairman of the Irish Youth Federation's advisory committee in Britain, Mr George Meehan, of Haringey Council in London, Ms Vicki Somers, a senior social worker with the Eastern Health Board, and Ms Christina McElwaine, third secretary at the London embassy. Both Mr Meehan and Ms Somers were members of the outgoing Dion committee.
The committee provides sup sport for Irish voluntary agencies working with Irish, emigrants in Britain.
It will have the continuing task of advising the Minister on grants from the allocation of £500,000 by his Department to the professional advisory services offered by Irish run agencies to Irish emigrants in Britain.
