Budget Day will be on Tuesday December 6th, Taoiseach Enda Kenny announced in the Dáil today.
Minister for Finance Michael Noonan will outline tax and spending decisions for 2012 which could include up to €4 billion in spending cuts in order to bring the general Government deficit down to 8.6 per cent of GDP.
In the run up to December 6th, the Government will publish a series of documents on the Budget and future fiscal plans
Mr Kenny said the documents would allow Oireachtas members to examine and discuss budget proposals. The Taosieach said such detail on budget and economic planning had never before been published before Budget day.
The medium term budget plan from 2012 to 2015 will be published in November including a breakdown between current and capital spending.
Decisions on what capital projects go ahead will be announced on November 10th with the publication of the capital spending plan.
On November 17th the Government will announce public service reforms to improve value for money in public spending.
Spending estimates for 2012 will be published the week before the budget.
