A brochure describing the first Irish cycle route specially designed for its links to history was launched at the Holiday World exhibition in Dublin yesterday.

Mayo's "1798 Commemorative Cycle Route" will take cyclists 165 miles from Killala, scene of the landing of three French ships in August 1798, along the route General Humbert's troops would have taken through counties Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Longford.

The brochure is available in tourist offices and from Mayo Naturally, at 094-25006.
