Man being treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds after Belcamp incident

A man is being treated in hospital after being shot in north Dublin on Friday evening.

The incident took place at Belcamp Crescent at 7.30pm. A man in his 20s was taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital, where gardaí say he is being treated for gunshot wounds to his leg. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Witnesses said a silver Volkswagen Boro pulled up beside the man and a passenger emerged, shooting the man twice with a handgun. The car then drove away from the area.

House to house inquiries have begun and gardaí are carrying out a technical examination of the scene. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Coolock Garda station on 01 666 4200.
