Limerick gardaí investigate ‘unusual theft’ of railway gates

Time of removal estimated sometime between Friday evening and Monday morning

Gardaí in Limerick are investigating the theft of a pair of railway-crossing steel gates that were taken from a road and rail junction in the county last weekend.

Gardaí are unsure of the exact time of the "unusual theft" in Linfield, Pallasgreen but believe it took place sometime between Friday evening and Monday morning.

The crossing is on the main rail line between Colbert Station in the city and Limerick Junction in County Tipperary, some 40km away.

Separately, some motor enthused thieves went to extreme lengths when they stole the tail lights of a car that was parked overnight in the County Limerick village of Clarina.
