Gardaí seize cannabis plants in Tralee with estimated street value of €1 million

Man injured after jumping from roof of large building

Gardaí have seized cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €1 million after a raid on an industrial building on the outskirts of Tralee, Co Kerry, yesterday.

The planned raid on the rented building led to the arrest of two men, believed to be Vietnamese.

Members of the Kerry divisional drugs unit led the raid in conjunction with the Garda’s Operation Nitrogen, which is targeting the illegal drugs trade.


Injuries
One of the two men was injured after he jumped from the roof of the large industrial building. He was taken to Kerry General Hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.

The large industrial unit at the rear of an industrial estate, where there is very little footfall, had been rented for some months, according to local sources.

The plants found by gardaí yesterday were at various stages of growth.

The men can be detained for a week.
