Gardaí are investigating a shooting at a house in Co Tipperary in the early hours of Friday in what appears to have been a pre-planned attack. A car believed to have carried the gunman was found burnt out after the incident in Clonmel.

Gardaí in the town have been dealing with a localised feud and one line of inquiry is that the shooting at about 12.30am on Friday is linked to that dispute.

Gardaí in Clonmel responded to calls that a shot had been fired at a house in the Oldbridge area of the town. When they went to the address at Brook Crescent they discovered damage to a property consistent the discharge of a firearm.

However, there were no reports of any injuries and the property was sealed off as a crime scene for examination by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.

A BMW 3 series saloon car was located burned out a short time late in the Seskin area of Kilsheelan, about 10km from the scene of the shooting. The area where the car was found was also sealed off for examination.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to come forward, particularly those who were around Brook Crescent at the time of the attack or who may have seen anything where the getaway car was set alight in the Seskin area of Kilsheelan.

Investigating gardaí suspect a degree of surveillance may have been carried out at the scene of the shooting in the hours before the attack. They have appealed for anyone who was in that area from around 9pm on Thursday to come forward.

They are also interested in the movements of the BMW 3 saloon car in either location between 9pm and 1am and have appealed for anyone driving in those areas around the relevant times to come forward with any dashcam footage

While the investigation was ongoing, no arrests have been made to date.
