Gardaí view CCTV footage for clues on €100,000 Cork raid

Gardaí investigating the theft of over €100,000 worth of electrical equipment from a Harvey Norman shop in Cork have begun examining CCTV footage to try and identify the thieves.

Management at the the shop on the Kinsale Road in Ballycureen are still compiling a list of what was stolen but gardaí believe it will exceed €100,000 in value. Among the items stolen were state-of-the-art TVs, laptops and other electrical equipment.

The gang broke into the shop after removing a panel to gain entry sometime between 11.30pm on Wednesday night and 2.30am yesterday morning in what gardaí said was a well planned operation.

Gardaí have now begun examining CCTV footage from premises in the area as well as other cameras around the city in an attempt to identify the gang's van or lorry.

They are investigating whether the break-in may be linked to a similar burglary at a Harvey Norman shop in Little island last October when €60,000 worth of TVs were stolen.

Gardaí in Togher have appealed to anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the Kinsale Road area in the early hours of yesterday morning to contact them on 021-4947120.
