Cork student wins three Intel awards

A Cork student has won three awards at the Intel International Science and Education Fair in Fort Worth, Texas

A Cork student has won three awards at the Intel International Science and Education Fair in Fort Worth, Texas. Sara Flannery (16), from Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal, Blarney, Co Cork, won first prize in the Fellows Achievement Award section with her project on cryptography. She also won a third in the American Mathematical Society section and a fourth in the Grand Award in Mathematics.

Her efforts won her $2,750. She was taken to the Intel event as winner of the Intel Ireland-sponsored mathematics/physics section of the 1998 Esat Young Scientist Exhibition, held at the RDS last January.
