Cork 1-16 Limerick 1-15
Ben O'Connor scored a late point to give Cork a one point win over Limerick at Semple Stadium this evening. It was a disappointing finish for Limerick who had equalised with just a minute remaining before O'Connor scored the winning point in injury time.
The match had a vigourous start with both sides level 0-3 apiece by the end of the seventh minute. Limerick then began to dominate and by the end of the 16th minute, points from Carey, Foley, Begley and Peter Lawlor gave Limerick a 0-7 to 0-3 buffer.
There was a scorching start to the second half with two goals in the first three minutes. Limerick’s Ollie Moran scored the first but Cork retaliated with a goal from Alan Browne in the 38th minute.
The momentum stayed with Cork as Alan Cummins equalised for Cork in the 46th minute.
Cork were awarded a penalty but ‘keeper Albert Shanhan saved O'Sullivan's strike. Limerick quickly attacked and opened a two-point lead.
Cork's Ben O'Connor and Limerick's Keane exchanged points to keep a two-point gap. But points from John Gardiner and Ben O'Connor levelled the score with six minutes on the clock.
Cork took the lead with four minutes to go with a point from Jerry O'Connor before Keane scored a point with just one minute to go to equalise. It looked like it was going to extra-time before Ben O'Connor made the winning score to give Cork a 1-16 to 1-15 victory.
In the SFC qualifier Tyrone beat Leitrim by 1-22 to 0-07.
