I agree with Tony Hetherington when he says he thinks e-books might take off with people who need to carry around a lot of reference texts, such as lawyers and academics. However, I don't think they will really overtake conventional books when it comes to people reading for pleasure. E-books may outsell paper books in a generation to come, perhaps if the pilot scheme in Ballyfermot is expanded to all schools so children grow up with them. - James

The cost of flying Aer Lingus

I just booked an Aer Lingus flight for my husband and my infant son. My husbands flight cost £9 (€11) and my son's cost £16 (€20) for the luxury of sitting on my husband's lap - he doesn't even get a seat. A one-way flight for £9 ended up costing £92 (€117) after all the charges for my husband and son. Ripping off one-year-olds is a bit cheeky, don't you think? - Catherine Wilson

iPhone shortages

You can't get a 3G iPhone for love nor money. I went into the O2 store yesterday for about the fifth time to find out about availability, and they don't know when the next batch was coming in. What's gone wrong? They claim a worldwide shortage. Is the demand really that high or has Apple made a miscalculation as to demand? It all seems a bit amateurish. - Harry
