German bank Commerzbank says it has placed a stake in Manchester United on behalf of an undisclosed client.
Commerzbank declined to comment on the size of the stake this morning. Manchester United also declined to comment.
The Guardiannewspaper reported today that Mr Mehmet Dalman, the head of Commerzbank in London, was thought to have brokered the sale of a near 6 per cent stake in the club.
By 9.55 a.m. the stock was among the top mid-cap gainers, up 2.4 per cent at 255 pence.
