Washington - President Bill Clinton yesterday waived arms and aid sanctions imposed on India and Pakistan after they conducted nuclear tests in May, as Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Washington on his first official visit.

Mr Sharif and Mr Clinton will meet today at the White House for talks aimed at repairing damage to bilateral relations caused by Pakistans test, which came in response to tests by its arch-rival India.
