LONDON - Hundreds of British people will be dying every year from CJD in about seven years time - with burger-eating getting the blame in most cases, claims to a report.
The CJD Surveillance Unit in Edinburgh is behind the new death toll prediction for CJD caused by eating BSE-infected food, says a report in the London Independent. The estimates in the Edinburgh paper, submitted to The Lancet medical-journal, are based on the 14 "new variant" cases of the CJD - brain disorder recorded so far in the UK.
