A joint Customs and Garda operation seized 62,600 cigarettes in a raid on a premises in the north city area of Dublin yesterday.

The raid was carried out by the Dublin Customs Mobile Task Unit and the Garda

Task Force based at Fitzgibbon Street. On Wednesday, 110,000 cigarettes were seized near Dublin airport.

This is part of the continuing "Operation Nicotine", a joint operation of the

Customs Mobile Task Unit and the Garda.

The Revenue Commissioners, in a statement, said: "The seized cigarettes had an approximate value of £9,300 and were believed to be destined for well known street traders."
