Cigarettes seized at Dublin Port

Officers from Revenue’s customs service based at Dublin Port have today seized 410,000 cigarettes.

Officers from Revenue’s customs service based at Dublin Port have today seized 410,000 cigarettes.

The ‘Regal’ brand cigarettes were seized when officers detained a Northern Ireland registered commercial vehicle.

The cigarettes had a retail value of €175,000 and a potential loss to the exchequer of €137,000.

This latest seizure brings the total number of cigarettes seized to date this year to approximately 77.5 million, with a potential retail value of €32.5 million.

Investigations are ongoing both nationally and internationally.
