Islamabad - Pakistani authorities have arrested three people suspected of being part of an international gang smuggling children to work as camel jockeys in the Persian Gulf, an official report said yesterday.
It said "security agencies" had been watching the suspects, and had recently recovered three children during an operation in Dubai. The children had been smuggled to the Gulf States for camel races, a popular Arab sport.
The traffickers usually buy eight- to 10-year-old children from poor families for between $1,000 and $1,200 each.
