Moscow - A top official in the pro-Moscow administration in Chechnya said yesterday he opposed the weekend launch of direct peace talks between Russian negotiators and a rebel envoy.
Chechen security chief Mr Rudnik Dudayev warned that separatist leader Mr Aslan "Maskhadov will be detained as soon as we discover where he is hiding."
