The Champions League semi-final second leg between Real Madrid and Barcelona will go ahead as planned tonight in the Bernabeu stadium, UEFA confirmed.
The decision was made at a security meeting attended by the police, local authorities, club officials and the UEFA match delegate after a car bomb exploded near the stadium ahead of the match in an attack claimed by the Basque separatist group ETA.
A Madrid police spokesman said nine people were slightly injured in the blast, which destroyed several cars. The Basque newspaper Garasaid ETA had telephoned them just minutes before the blast to warn of the attack.
A full house of 75,000 was expected for tonight’s match with Real leading 2-0 after the first leg in Barcelona last week. The winners will play Germany's Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League final in Glasgow, Scotland on May 15th.
