Rangers striker Claudio Caniggia has won a recall to the Argentine squad to face Wales in Cardiff on February 13th.

Marcelo Bielsa named a 20-strong squad for the friendly fixture and Caniggia featured among several players who were absent from Argentina's qualifying campaign for the World Cup finals.

The 35-year old striker has been enjoying an Indian Summer in Scotland and hopes to convince Bielsa he deserves to play in the 2002 World Cup finals in Japan and South Korea.

"Caniggia is a top-quality player who deserves this opportunity," said Julio Grondona, president of the Argentine Football Association, shortly after Bielsa had announced his squad.
