London - One of Britain's most emotional murder cases was wrenched open yesterday after the country's leading prison official called for the early release of two teenagers who battered two-year-old Jamie Bulger to death in 1993.

The murdered toddler's mother was outraged at the comments by the Chief Inspector of Prisons, Sir David Ramsbotham, that Robert Thompson and Jon Venables could serve as little as eight years.
