THE scrapping of the cap on prize funds for charity lotteries has been recommended by the Dail Committee on Legislation and Security. The committee has advised the Minister for Justice, Mrs Owen, that she can do this by raising the cap to such a high level that it would become "irrelevant".
Ms Angela Kerins, Rehab's director of public affairs, commented: "We warmly welcome this recommendation. If the Government acts on it, the real beneficiaries will be people with disabilities, their families and carers."
