IN AN attempt to explore other opportunities, a jobs fair has been organised for today in Waterford aimed at staff who are to be made redundant at the TalkTalk call centre facility.

Companies attending and participating in the fair include Intellicom, Sage, SouthWestern, UPC, 02 and VoxPro. Other Contact Centre Management Association (CCMA) member companies who have identified vacancies suitable for TalkTalk staff include Airtricity, Eircom, Fexco, Gift Voucher Shop, IFA Telecom, paddypower.com, PayPal, Vodafone and Xerox.

Following last week’s announcement of the imminent closure of the TalkTalk facility in the city’s IDA industrial estate, the CCMA decided to hold a jobs fair to help those being made redundant.

The association made calls to its membership to find out what vacancies they have for contact centre roles that would be suitable for TalkTalk employees.

“There has been a fantastic response to this request,” the association said.

“At least 10 association member companies will participate in the jobs fair and the range of vacancies includes customer service and sales executives, team managers and specialist roles in the area of project management and workforce planning.

CCMA Ireland chairman Maurice Whelan said that, as an industry sector, members already work closely in supporting each other across a range of areas including benchmarking and sharing best practice.

“We are delighted that so many of our member companies have rallied to help the TalkTalk employees in securing new employment. The Irish contact centre industry is strong and growing and we will work in whatever way we can to help the TalkTalk employees.”
