FIRST-TIME home buyers not on any housing lists have the opportunity to purchase one of a new range of affordable homes from the Dublin Docklands Authority (DDA).

An open day took place yesterday to showcase the 11 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom apartments on offer, located at Spencer Dock in the city. Prices range from €240,000 to €265,000.

The apartments are on sale to those whose annual incomes are below the thresholds of €58,000 for a single applicant or a total of €75,000 for joint applicants. Potential buyers will need to provide the DDA with proof of their earnings, as well as evidence that they have been provisionally accepted for a loan by their bank.

The DDA has built 319 affordable homes since 1997, out of a total of 773 units that have been certified by the authority. According to DDA chief executive Paul Maloney, the availability of the apartments “forms part of our strategy to deliver 20 per cent social and affordable housing across the area and encourage a vibrant community to take up residence in the area”.
