US President George W. Bush today discussed the global war on terrorism and the Middle East peace process in a telephone call with Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, the White House said.

The crown prince talked about working together to achieve peace in the Middle East. "He (Mr Bush) thanked Saudi Arabia for their friendship, cooperation and help and emphasized the mutual goal of bringing peace to the Middle East," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer told reporters accompanying the president on a trip to the Midwest.

He said Mr Bush also discussed anti-terrorism efforts in a separate phone call with President Bashar al-Assad of Syria.
