Bulgarian capital Sofia will bid to hold the Winter Olympics in 2014. It will be Bulgaria’s third attempt to host the Games after two previous bids failed.
Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee, has been informed of the decision by Bulgarian Olympic Committee president Ivan Slavkov. Rogge had been in the IOC team evaluating Sofia's sports facilities, located at the foot of the Vitosha mountains, when the capital was trying for the 1992 and 1994 Games.
