British police acting under anti-terrorism laws have arrested and detained a 56-year-old man.

British police acting under anti-terrorism laws have arrested and detained a 56-year-old man.

It was not immediately known whether the arrest was related to last month's terror attacks in the United States.

The man was arrested Thursday in Bangor, North Wales, and detectives were given a warrant allowing them to continue questioning him until Tuesday pending further inquiries.

A police spokesman said: "North Wales Police can confirm that a 56-year-old man was arrested at Bangor on Thursday, October 11th, under the provisions of the Terrorist Act.

"Today, North Wales Police were granted a warrant of further detention pending further inquiries until Tuesday, October 16th.

"No further information is available at present."
