The ball that everyone's talking about this year is the first Powerscourt Christmas Ball in aid of the Hospice Foundation next Friday. In fine old-fashioned tradition, no dinner will be served, rather guests will be greeted with champagne and cake on their arrival at the newly renovated floodlit Powerscourt House. The decoration looks set to be sensational as it is presided over by Odette Rocha, John Rocha's partner, and Laura George of Image Interiors, but odds are people will forget all about it by the morning as there is sponsored booze all night. Breakfast will be served at 1 a.m. to soak up some of the excess and carriages will sweep all the Cinderellas home at three in the morning. Some tickets are still available from the Irish Hospice Foundation.
