Boy found drowned in Sligo river named

The four-year-old boy whose body was taken from a river in Sligo last night has been named.

The four-year-old boy whose body was taken from a river in Sligo last night has been named.

He was named as Jacob Daniel Cheregi, an was of Romanian nationality.

Jacob's body was discovered in the Garravogue River, at Quay Street in Sligo at 9pm last night.

Members of the local gardaí, fire brigade and Sligo lifeboat all responded to the emergency call and the body was recovered and taken to Sligo General Hospital.
