Tirana - A nine-year-old Albanian boy travelled 60 miles across the Adriatic in a chartered speedboat to Italy in search of his parents, an Albanian newspaper reported.

The daily Gazeta Shqiptare said the skipper of the speedboat threw the boy and 33 other refugees into the icy waters off the Italian coast near Bari for fear of being discovered by the coastguard. The boy, whose father worked in a cement factory in northern Italy, was later found by carabinieri police hiding in a van along with the other illegal immigrants.
