A TWO-year-old boy was among three people killed in separate road collisions in counties Dublin, Kerry and Galway yesterday.

A TWO-year-old boy was among three people killed in separate road collisions in counties Dublin, Kerry and Galway yesterday.

The young boy, a pedestrian, was fatally injured when he was struck by a van on Deansrath Avenue in Clondalkin, Dublin at around 5.30pm.

He was pronounced dead by paramedics while being taken to the National Children’s Hospital in Tallaght by ambulance.

Gardaí in Clondalkin are investigating the incident and Deansrath Road remained closed last night pending an examination by a forensic collision team.

Meanwhile, a man in his 70s sustained fatal injuries when the car, of which he was the sole occupant, collided with a truck near Healeys Bridge in Co Kerry.

The incident occured on the N21 between Castleisland and Abbeyfeale shortly after 2.30pm.

The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries at Tralee General Hospital.

In Co Galway, a mother of two was killed when her car left the road in the south of the county yesterday afternoon.

The woman, who was in her 40s and from Looscaun near Woodford, died in the crash which happened at 3.45pm a short distance from her house.
