A search of the River Moy in Ballina, Co Mayo, yesterday for a missing man yielded an unexpected result – the body of a woman which is believed to have been in the water since the previous day.
The discovery was made by a search team at Bachelor’s Walk as it continued its search for Paddy Murphy (50) Cloghans, Knockmore, who has not been seen since Thursday evening.
The woman was named locally last night as Bríd Corcoran, a single woman in her 50s, who lived alone at Marian Crescent in Ballina. The body was taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar yesterday evening for a postmortem.
