Body of woman discovered in River Suir

Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Meg Walsh, who has been missing for over two weeks, have discovered a body of a woman in the River Suir.

A garda spokesman confirmed that the body found near the Clock Tower, Co Waterford, was that of a woman in her 30s.

The body has been taken to Waterford Regional Hospital, where the State Pathologist Dr Cassidy will carry out a post mortem later this evening.

Margaret (Meg) Walsh (35) from Ballinakill Downs in Waterford has not been seen since Sunday October 1st

While Ms Walsh's disappearance is officially being treated as a missing person case, gardaí are said to be concerned for her safety.

Ms Walsh is understood to have made a complaint to gardaí last month about an incident involving a person known to her.

She was accompanied by a female friend when she made the complaint at Waterford Garda station some weeks ago.

It is understood that gardaí have spoken to the person identified by Ms Walsh in her complaint in the course of their inquiries into her disappearance.
