FOR many blues aficionados, Peter Green (right) had the magic, mercurial touch. His work in the original Fleetwood Mac is regarded as having generated some of the finest blues guitar playing ever heard. But then Green fragmented and for decades effectively vanished. Now back following a lengthy spell on medication, Peter Green is touring with the Splinter Group, a support network in every sense of the word. Amidst the stodgy rock blues of his band, Green's nimble guitar playing is still remarkable for its range and delicacy, and there are moments during his live shows when you realise just how good he is - on a good night, at very least. Peter Green & Splinter Group play a brief Irish tour next week, calling at Waterford's Garter Lane on Sunday and Monday, Galway's Roisin Dubh on Tuesday and Dublin's Temple Bar Music Centre on Wednesday.
