Blood samples have been taken from a number of people in Ballinasloe, Co Galway, as part of the investigation into the murder of an amusement arcade manager, Mr John Kennedy, now in its third week. The samples were taken on a voluntary basis from a number of young men in the town.
Gardai say they are continuing to follow several lines of inquiry in their investigation into the murder of the 50-year-old amusement arcade manager, whose body was found lying in a pool of blood at the Funworld Arcade in Ballinasloe in the early hours of August 19th.
He suffered several wounds to the head, probably from a hammer. Gardai are understood to have narrowed down their investigation to four or five suspects. A number of people brought in for questioning about other crimes have been questioned about the murder of Mr Kennedy.
The search for a murder weapon was switched to another area of Ballinasloe this week as a result of information received by the gardai.
A £10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the killing has been offered by the owners of the arcade where Mr Kennedy worked for nine years.
