Bin Laden alive says German intelligence head
Osama bin Laden is alive and planning new strikes, the head of German foreign intelligence said in an interview published today.
"We are convinced that bin Laden is still alive and that he is in the region bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan," Mr August Hanning, the chief of the federal intelligence agency told Germany's Welt am Sonntagnewspaper.
He said more than 5,000 members of al-Qaeda and the ousted Taliban remain in Afghanistan and Pakistan, while many others have returned to their native countries, he said.
"They will try everything to strike again. We have to prepare ourselves for that," Mr Hanning said
