A year after her husband rapper Jay-Z was one of the major draws at Oxegen, pop superstar Beyoncé will headline the festival this summer.

The singer was expected to come to support her husband last year, but missed his set which - unfortunately for him - occurred in a deluge.

Together, they make for the ultimate power couple in modern music. Beyoncé's draw as a performer in her own right was confirmed by her six night sold-out stint at the O2 in 2009.

Forbes magazine rates her as the most important contemporary performer in music.

Beyoncé will headline the final night of the festival, which takes place between Friday, July 8th and 10th at Punchestown Racecourse in Co Kildare. She will be preceded by Coldplay.

Her new single Run the World (Girls) was released last month and her fourth album will be released in June.

Other major acts playing Oxegen include the Arctic Monkeys, the Black Eyed Peas and the Foo Fighters.
