If sumptuous eats determine event of the weekship, the highlight was undoubtedly the Irish Food Writers' Guild Awards, held in Commons Restaurant in Dublin, on Monday afternoon. Biddy White Lennon was there, as was RTE Guide food writer Honor Moore, who will be presenting a new food programme, Real Food in the next few weeks. Helen Lucy Burke was being told rude political jokes by Justin Keating - though she did take time to praise the winners, particularly the overall winner, Co Cork-based Carrigmore meats, for their beef.
"The meat is so good because it comes from animals who are well hung," she opined.
