THE people of Belfast who died in the Famine are to be commemorated by a stained glass window in Belfast City Hall.
A DUP attempt to block the move, at last night's City Council meeting, was defeated when unionists and nationalists united to vote for the proposal.
Mr Sammy Wilson (DUP) said there was no evidence that the Famine played a major role in Belfast, but the motion gave credibility to "anti British Sinn Fein propaganda".
