Sinn Fein and the Alliance Party have condemned arson attacks on the homes of two Catholic families in north Belfast. Homes in Whitewell Road and Graymount Crescent were attacked in the early morning incidents. Both houses were occupied at the time but the families managed to escape. "This was another sectarian attack in an ongoing campaign of harassment," said Sinn Fein Assembly member for North Belfast Mr Gerry Kelly.

Mr Tom Campbell of the Alliance Party said the PUP and UDP should use their influence to halt the attacks "before someone is killed or seriously injured. Ultimately the communities in this area have got to talk. Violence of this kind will merely bring with it retaliation and more misery for everyone," Mr Campbell said.
